Around 4 years ago a field services company with around 170 vehicles came to GeoSmart looking to optimise the services delivered by employees in over 100 vehicles in order to meet their contractual obligations efficiently and profitably. A core motivation for the company was that petrol prices had just gone up significantly and they were having to allow for an additional cost of almost $100,000 for the remainder of 2 ½ calendar months in the year. GeoSmart developed an end to end solution for the company, including very expensive in-vehicle technology as there wasn’t a solution available from vendors in the country at the time. The end result was that they not only met their objectives, but ended up competing so successfully in their market segments that they purchased several smaller competitors who did not have the resources to invest in a similar solution.
GeoSmart is a part of the New Zealand Automobile Association (NZAA) and is now offering New Zealand developers to take advantage of some of the technology developed as a part of this and number of other projects.
